The Kimble County Community

Kimble County is located in west Texas with Junction being the county seat. In 2000, the county’s population was 4,468. The county is named for George C. Kimble who died at the Battle of the Alamo.

Known as the “Land of the Living Waters,” Kimble County has hundreds of natural springs. The springs feed the North Llano and South Llano rivers that come together to form the Llano River where the water runs cool and clear.

The county has a total area of 1,251 square miles of which 1,250 square miles is land and one square mile is water. With all the natural water and being situated on the edge of Texas Hill County, Kimble County boasts an outstanding quality of life with ample opportunities for residents and visitors to engage in hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and tubing.

Junction is the leading municipality with a population of 2,638 according to the 2005 census. Other communities in the county include London, Roosevelt and Telegraph. The Junction Independent School District serves most of Kimble County with the southeastern portion of the county being part of the Harper Independent School District and a very small portion of the county in the Mason Independent School District.

Because of its close proximity to I-10, Junction has 9 hotels and motels and 11 bed and breakfasts. Seventeen restaurants and two grocery stores also serve the community. The region boasts a moderate climate with an annual average temperature of 64.7 degrees and an annual average rainfall of 17.64 inches. The Kimble Hospital Foundation

 

The Kimble Hospital Foundation, founded February 2000, is an independent organization

established to raise funds for the benefit of Kimble County Hospital and to manage and

subsequently dispense donations and revenues to the Hospital in accordance with either

donor wishes or requests from the hospital. Donations may be in the form of annual,

memorial, capital, trust or bequest gifts or income from an endowment.

 

The Foundation raises funds that are used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, enhance

facilities and develop special programs that help Kimble County Hospital remain in the

forefront of medical care. The Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service

as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, publicly supported organization, and is not a private

foundation.

 

The Kimble Hospital Foundation is dedicated to the improvement of the community’s

health and healthcare through the development of financial support from our citizens,

foundations and various fundraising activities. Resources realized are utilized for the

support and improvement of the facilities, equipment and services of Kimble County

Hospital.

 

The Kimble Hospital Foundation depends on the generosity of individuals, families,

corporations and foundations to ensure that Kimble County Hospital continues to provide

excellent patient care.
