Kimble County Hospital District Board

The Kimble County Hospital District was created in 1971 by the 62nd Texas State Legislature for the purpose of creating a board of elected officials to oversee the operations of the hospital and hospital system that furnishes hospital services and medical care to the residents within the specified boundaries of the Hospital District in Kimble County. This district provides necessary hospital and medical care for the residents of the district.

The Hospital District is governed by a board of seven directors elected at large from the county for three-year terms. A board president and secretary and treasurer are elected annually by the directors of the board. Current Board Directors include:

Paul Bierschwale

Elections for board director positions are held annually each May with the filing period for candidacy being in the calendar period from February to March.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of Kimble Hospital, 349 Reid Road, Junction, Texas.

The KCHD board conducts its meetings under the laws of the KCHD enabling legislation set forth by the Texas State Legislature and the Texas Open Meetings Act. Below please find links to the Board’s enabling legislation and Texas Open Meetings Act documents.

The KCHD’s enabling legislation was originally passed in 1971 by the 62^nd Texas Legislature. As time passed previous Boards requested changes and updates to the legislation. The enabling legislation was first amended by the 78^th Texas Legislature in 2003 and was amended again by the 79^th Texas Legislature in 2005. The latest version of the enabling legislation was passed by the 80^th Texas Legislature in 2007.
